Tragic dad who died in Edinburgh flat plunge named as cops probe fall

An IT analyst died yesterday after plunging from a window of his third-floor flat.

Gordon Barr was discovered with horrific injuries in the early hours of Monday morning.

He died in hospital shortly afterwards.

Police are treating the 51-year-old’s death as unexplained but it is not thought to be suspicious.

Gordon fell out the window of his flat in Salisbury Road in Newington, Edinburgh, at about 3.15am.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police and emergency services attended and the man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. He sadly passed away a short time later.

“A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”

Salisbury Road was closed for most of the day yesterday. Gordon is listed as the sole director of an IT firm. He also worked for an Edinburgh company.

He leaves a son, who is understood to work in the US.
