
A woman and two children have died in a crash on the state's Central Coast overnight.
Police have said a vehicle, driven by a woman with with five children on board, was travelling travelling on Wisemans Ferry Road, Central Mangrove around 10pm Tuesday when it left the roadway approaching Nurses Road and crashed into an embankment
The woman and two children aged 2 and 8 died at the scene.
A further three children were treated at the scene before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital where they remain in stable conditions, police said.
Officers from Brisbane Water Police District have established a crime scene and commenced inquiries.
Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are also on scene and will conduct a full investigation.
Police said of those inquiries include a motorist, who was travelling on Wisemans Ferry Road shortly after the crash, who may have hit one of the children who was on the road. He has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Wisemans Ferry Road, near Nurses Road will remain closed for some time with local diversions in place..
