Tragic appeal after tiny puppy found floating in Lanarkshire river

An appeal for information has been launched after a puppy was found dead in a Lanarkshire burn.

The French bulldog pup was found by member of the public last Tuesday.

The tiny dog was spotted floating in the water of a burn in Bonkle, near Wishaw.

Now the Scottish SPCA have launched an appeal for information to find out what happened to the gorgeous canine.

SSPCA inspector Heather Lawson said: “We’ve estimated the puppy was between five and eight weeks old.

“The caller found the female dog in the burn near Murdouston Road in Bonkle.

“We don’t think she had been in the water long.

“We are unable to determine how the puppy died and whether she was dead before she was put in the burn.

“We are appealing to members of the public to see if they can shed any light on how the puppy came to be found in these circumstances.”

Anyone with any information should contact the confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
