Tragedy of 'happy and healthy' dad-of-three who went to bed to watch United on Match of the Day and never woke up

Tributes have been paid to a father-of-three who died suddenly following a brain haemorrhage.

Chris Munday, 46, from Altrincham , was found unconscious in bed by a family member and taken to hospital.

He was put on life support but tragically died shortly after.

Doctors said he died as a result of a bleed of the brain.

Chris had no health problems and was described as 'healthy' by his loved ones.

His family and friends have now started a fundraising campaign to help his wife and three children pay for funeral and living costs.

Chris was a huge Manchester United fan and was watching his team on Match of the Day in bed at home on Saturday night.

His wife became alarmed when she heard a 'loud gasp' and 'funny noise' coming from his room.

She found him unconscious and immediately called an ambulance.

CPR was administered and he was resuscitated - but he died at Wythenshawe Hospital after being on a life support machine for 24 hours.

Incredibly, his kidneys and heart valves were donated.

Chris, a call-centre worker, leaves behind his wife Kellie and his three children, Lucia, 15, Francesca, 13, and Giovanni, 8.

The children 'worshipped' their dad who they saw as their 'hero', according to loved ones.

Chris' friend Derek Duguid, 43, from Glasgow, told the M.E.N: "Doctors said they will probably never know what exactly happened or why it happened.

"They said anyone could have them and be affected by these bleeds.

"This would have happened within a second."

Paying tribute to his friend, Derek continued: "He was a funny, big character. He was always there for his family. He was happy. His children all adored him, he was his son's hero.

A JustGiving page has been set up to help pay for Chris' funeral costs and to help the family with living costs at this difficult time.
