A two-week-old child has died after a car crashed into the baby's pram today.
Police have confirmed that a BMW crashed into another car before colliding with the pram at around 4pm on Easter Sunday.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the tragedy, reports the Mirror.
The baby boy was being pushed along the pavement by his family on Brownhills High Street in Walsall when the car hit him. A relative also suffered a shoulder injury in the crash.
The driver of the BMW left the scene but a man was arrested in Bloxwich shortly afterwards, West Midlands Police say.
The crash involved a white Ford B-Max and a white BMW 1 Series, which pinned the pram against the wall.
An air ambulance raced to the scene and the boy was rushed to hospital, however he sadly died.
A section of Brownhills High Street is expected to stay closed all night as police carry out investigations.
Sergeant Mark Crozier said: "A baby has tragically died and we'll be doing all we can to support his family during this deeply devastating time.
"We're in the process of speaking to witnesses and establishing the circumstances around this collision.
"I would ask anyone who was in the area, and has information which can assist our enquiries, to come forward.
"We understand the shock this will have caused but I would ask people not to speculate on what happened."
