A cyclist who died after colliding with an open car door has been named locally as Hilary Wilmer.
Ms Wilmer, 65, worked as an IT manager at the prestigious £19,410-a-year Channing School in Highgate.
She was cycling her regular commute home when she came off her bike on Coleridge Road, Haringey, at 4.40pm on Friday, May 28.
Ms Wilmer was taken to hospital in a critical condition and sadly died from her injuries two days later.
Police said the driver of the parked car was not arrested and is helping them with their enquiries.
Mon McNulty, a colleague at Channing where Ms Wilmer worked for 25 years, described her as a “wonderful and rare person”.
“You don’t meet many people like Hilary - fiercely independent, such a strong character with a kind and genuine heart,” he said.
“She will be so missed by all her colleagues and friends. She meant so much to the school and it will be almost impossible to replace her.
“There was nothing about technology that she didn’t know. If anything ever went wrong at school, it was Hilary to the rescue.”
Hilary’s family have asked for any donations in her memory to be made to Norfolk Wildlife Trust.
Ms McNulty added: “It’s what she would have wanted. I really think that says so much about her character. She was such a caring and special person.”
