Tragedy as police issue statement after woman dies in Leeds city centre

A woman has tragically died following a medical episode in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police officers were called to King Edward Street, in Leeds city centre, shortly before 11.30am this morning (September 29) to assist the ambulance service.

A woman was receiving medical treatment and sadly died a short time later.

The police said in a statement that the incident is being treated as a medical episode.

The statement read: "Officers were called to King Edward Street, Leeds, shortly before 11.30am this morning (Wednesday, 29 September) to assist the ambulance service.

"A woman was receiving medical treatment and died a short time later.

"This is being treated as a medical episode."

At least two police cars and two ambulances were seen attending the incident.

An eyewitness said officers taped off parts of the area earlier this morning.
