Tragedy as police confirm man's body found in North Ayrshire park

A man's body was found in a North Ayrshire park last night.

Police have today confirmed the 43-year-old was discovered in Kilwinning's Almswall Park, off the town's Nethermains Road.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

The park is in the Blacklands area of the town and sits alongside the River Garnock.

One eyewitness told Ayrshire Live of an emergency services operation at the park last night with at least three police cars and an ambulance in attendance.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said this afternoon: “Around 6.35pm on Tuesday, April 13, the body of a 43-year-old man was found in Almswall Park, Nethermains Road, Kilwinning.

“A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course however the death is not currently being treated as suspicious.

“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
