Tragedy as motorcyclist dies following crash with van at Scots industrial estate

A motorcyclist has tragically died following a crash with a van in Kilmarnock.

Police say the 45-year-old passed away last night at Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after the incident on Tuesday afternoon.

The biker was involved in a collision with the van around 2.10pm that day at the Moorfield industrial estate.

Emergency services raced to the scene in East Ayrshire and the road was closed for approximately four hours as investigation work took place.

The 39-year-old driver of the van was not injured.

The motorcyclist was rushed to hospital in Glasgow where his condition was described by medics as critical earlier this week.

Sadly, police today issued an update confirming the biker had died as a result of his injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 1863 of 7 June, 2022."
