Tragedy as man in his 20s dies after becoming trapped in machinery at factory

A man has died after becoming trapped in machinery at a factory in Burnley.

Emergency services were called to Doric FPD, on Farrington Road, at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, December 3 after receiving reports of what they describe as an "industrial accident."

A man, in his 20s, who was working at the time and had become trapped in some machinery, Lancs Live report.

"We attended and found a man, aged in his 20s, who had been working at the site, had become trapped in some machinery and had sadly died," Lancashire Police said in a statement.

"A joint investigation between the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the police is now underway.

"Our thoughts are very much with the man’s family and friends at this tragic time."

Previously known as Cakeboards, Doric FPD make food packaging and cake decorations.

Their website says they are a "manufacturer and a major resource for leading food producers, wholesalers, retailers, plant bakers and cake decorators."
