Tragedy as man collapses and dies in Kirkstall Halfords car park

A man collapsed and died outside Halfords in Kirkstall early this morning.

West Yorkshire Police were called to the Halfords store in Savins Mill Way at 5.20am by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service who had been called out after a man was found collapsed.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

There are reports the man was found by a Halford’s delivery driver in the early hours of this morning.

Police set up a cordon and forensics tent and were at the scene for more than three hours.

A spokesperson for the force said: “At 5.20am today (19/1), police were contacted by the ambulance service who were attending an incident where a man had been found collapsed outside the Halfords store, in Savins Mill Way, Kirkstall.

“He was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries have established there were no suspicious circumstances.”

A resident passing the scene said: “It’s just so scary. I am so sorry to the family. I cannot imagine how traumatising that must have been for the driver who found the body, too.”

A worked at a neighbouring business said: “Police and crime scene investigators were here for about three hours. They left at around 10am. We were told that a body had been found.”
