A 10-year-old boy has died after a crash involving a quad bike in Co Laois.
The boy died on Thursday night of his injuries at Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin, after an incident that took place at 11am on Wednesday.
The crash happened in the Dooary area of Ballyroan, a small town in the southern part of Laois.
The 10-year-old was airlifted from Ballyroan GAA grounds to the hospital.
Gardai said that investigations into the tragedy are ongoing and that a file will be prepared for the coroner.
A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an incident involving a quad bike in the Dooary area of Ballyroan, Co. Laois at 11am on Wednesday, the 10th of February 2021.
"A male youth was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He passed away on the 11th February at Temple Street Hospital. Investigations are ongoing and a file will be prepared for the Coroner."
