Tragedy as body of missing mum found on beach in Blackpool

The body of a 'beloved' mum who went missing nearly two months ago has been discovered on a beach in Blackpool.

The daughter of Bernadette Connolly has now paid a moving tribute to her, saying "we will always remember her smile, strong character and love."

Bernadette's body was recovered from the north beach at the Lancashire seaside resort, according to her daughter.

The 45-year-old had last been seen in the car park of a hotel in Malahide, Ireland, on Friday, January, 7 . CCTV footage recorded her last known movements, where she was seen walking towards the beach, at around 12.46pm.

Her bag, phone, and jacket were then later found at the other end of the beach, reports Dublin Live.

Bernadette's daughter, Jade, issued a heartbreaking appeal to bring her mum home following her disappearance. However, she yesterday tragically confirmed the woman's body recovered in Blackpool was that of her mum.

She said memories of her mum would 'live on forever as she thanked people for their help and support whilst she was missing.

"I write this message with a heavy heart" she said in a post on Instagram.

"My family and I have received tragic news that a woman's body was recovered from a beach in Blackpool and is confirmed to be my beloved mam, Bernadette Connolly. We will always remember her smile, strong character, and love.

"Mam and I have had 30 years together, for that I am grateful, and our memories will live on forever. This experience has been incredibly difficult for us and we couldn't have done it alone.

"From day one my family and I received so much unconditional and tireless support across the nation and worldwide for which we can't express enough gratitude." As her daughter, I truly know I did all I could in my power to find her.

"We prayed for people to light a path to bring her home and we're so grateful to have her back and can now lay her to rest."
