The body of missing Cork man Cormac Ryan has been found.
Gardai confirmed that the discovery had been made last night after news of his disappearance was reported this week.
The 31-year-old had last been seen in the Douglas Street area of the south city centre on Sunday evening, Cork Beo reports.
Midleton Rugby Club announced last night: "Its with great sadness to announce that Cormac has been found this evening. Thanks to all volunteers who came out to search for him and made sure he was found. Our deepest condolences go to his family and friends."
And a garda spokeswoman confirmed today: "The body of missing person Cormac Ryan, who has been missing from Cork city since Sunday, February 9, has been located.
"Thank you for your assistance. No further action is required. A file will now be prepared for the Coroner."
Midleton Rugby Club President Con Walsh expressed his condolences to the family after the tragic outcome.
A Mallow Search and Rescue spokesperson said: "Very sad to report that the body of the missing person in Cork was recovered this evening by divers from Mallow Search & Rescue having been located by our Side Scan Sonar.
"We would like to extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends RIP
"We would like to thank other units for their assistance during the search, Crosshaven Coast Guard, Guillen Coast Guard, Cork City Missing Persons and Anglesey Street Gardai."
Local TD Pat Buckley said: "Very sad news coming out of East Cork tonight. A legend of a man!! Prayers for his Family and his friends this evening. To everyone who assisted over the last few days, ye all rallied ye did your best."
