Tragedy as baby girl found unresponsive in Leeds house dies

A one-year-old baby girl died in hospital after being found unresponsive at a house in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police officers and ambulance paramedics were called to Tong Drive in Farnley on Sunday morning.

The ambulance service contacted the police after attending a house where the girl had been found in an unresponsive state.

The girl was given medical attention and taken to hospital by ambulance. Sadly, she died a short time later.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 9.53am on Sunday, police were contacted by the ambulance service who were attending an address in Tong Drive, Farnley, where a one-year-old girl had been found unresponsive.

"The child received urgent medical attention and was taken to hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead a short time later.

"Leeds District Safeguarding Unit is carrying out inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the child’s death."
