Tragedy as baby dies at property in Lanarkshire

Police have launched a probe into the "sudden" death of a baby at a property in Lanarkshire on Friday.

Emergency services were called to the property in Larkhall and tried to resuscitate the eight-month-old infant but sadly it could not be saved and was pronounced dead around 10.30am on June 3.

Enquiries are now ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the baby's death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Lanarkshire Live : “Around 10.30am on Friday, June 3, officers were called to an address in Larkhall following a report of an unresponsive baby.

“Emergency services also attended, but the eight-month-old could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.

“As with all sudden deaths, a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
