KALASIN: A man said to be delivering illicit drugs to online dealer Mun Tuk Med (every pill is fun) has been arrested with almost 300,000 speed pills in his possession.
A team of police, soldiers and local officials searched a property in Yang Talat district of Kalasin on Wednesday and found 198,000 methamphetamne pills in packages hidden in a disused septic tank behind the house.
The place belonged to Arthit Khunhong, 29, who was caught in front of a dormitory in Kantharawichai district of Maha Sarakham province on Tuesday while about to make a delivery. He had 98,000 speed pills with him.
According to police, the suspect confessed to having more drugs stored at his house in Kalasin, which led to the search on Wednesday. In total, 296,000 meth pills were seized.
During interrogation, Mr Arthit allegedly admitted he brought the drugs from a neighbouring country and stored them at his house pending delivery to members of a major drug network operating in the Northeast.
Police described the suspect as a major drug suspect in the Northeast. He was allegedly involved with a large online drug gang known as Mun Tuk Med, which had networks in the North and the Northeast.
Mr Arthit had delivered drugs to members of the online gang in the Northeast for resale.
The investigation was being extended, with police aiming to arrest other members of the networks.
