Traffic will be restricted around three Edinburgh primary schools from tomorrow morning

Traffic will be restricted around three Edinburgh primary schools from tomorrow morning.

The School Streets Scheme will arrive at Leith Primary, St Mary's in Leith and Gilmerton Primary on the morning of Monday, 2 March.

This will see traffic restricted on streets around school entrances for around 50-minutes at the start and end of the school day. Signs will be put up around each of the zones, and will flash to indicate when restrictions are in-place.

These restrictions will be in place at Gilmerton Primary from 8.20am to 8.55am, and 2.35pm to 3.20pm Monday to Thursday. On a Friday the lights will be in operation from 8.20am to 8.55am, and 12pm to 12.35pm.

On Monday to Thursday, the restrictions will apply at Leith Primary from 8.20pm to 9pm, and 2.50pm and 3.35pm, while at St Mary's in Leith it will be from 8.35am to 9.05am, and 2.35pm to 3.25pm.

On a Friday Leith Primary restrictions will be in-place from 8.20am to 9am, and 11.50am to 12.40pm, and at St Mary's in Leith from 8.30am to 9am, and 12.05pm to 12.40pm.

Residents or businesses who require access will be allowed in with a permit for their vehicles, while the restrictions won't apply to cars displaying a disabled badge, council vehicles taking pupils to and from school, and emergency services vehicles.

Nine schools are already involved in the project. They are as follows: Abbeyhill, Clermiston, Colinton, Cramond, Duddingston, Schiennes, St John's RC, St Peter's RC, Towerbank.
