Traffic warden seriously hurt after being hit by car in Liverpool city centre

A traffic warden suffered 'serious injuries' after he was hit by a car in Liverpool city centre.

Police and ambulance were called out to Castle Street at around 10.20am on Friday following reports of an accident.

A traffic warden suffered head and leg injuries.

The ambulance service sent two vehicles and an advanced paramedic to the scene. 

A spokesman for the service said they were called to the scene following reports of a 'collision between a pedestrian and a car.'

The victim suffered 'serious' injuries to his head and leg'. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The spokesman said that the accident happened opposite Caffe Nero on Castle Street.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to Castle Street in Liverpool city centre at 10.20am today, Friday 11th October, following reports of an incident in which a male traffic warden suffered an injury to his foot.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of what happened. Witnesses are currently being spoken to and CCTV enquiries are taking place."
