Traffic warden left 'shaken' after 'unprovoked attack' outside Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead

A traffic warden was left 'shaken' after being unexpectedly attacked in Gateshead.

The assault happened at about 4pm on Tuesday in the area surrounding the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

A man approached the traffic warden and violently pushed him to the ground.

Police have confirmed that investigations are now under way.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 4pm yesterday (Tuesday) we received a report of an assault outside the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.

“It was reported that a traffic warden was approached by a male who was not known to him, who proceeded to violently push him over."

The spokesperson confirmed that the incident left the victim mostly unharmed but did, however, leave him shaken.

They added: "Thankfully the victim did not suffer serious injuries but was left shaken by the incident.

“An investigation is ongoing into the incident.”
