Traffic stops mooving on M56 after cow spotted trotting down motorway

This is the moment a rogue cow was spotted trotting down the carriageway of the M56 .

Traffic came to a standstill on the motorway near Chester after the cow - named Daisy - escaped from a nearby farm.

North West Motorway Police issued a warning to drivers on Monday afternoon that a cow had been spotted running in between live lines.

They wrote: "Patrols en route to a cow running in live lanes between J15-14, M56 Eastbound, farmer is at scene.

"Approach with care."

They later said in an update: "Daisy has been mooved along and returned to her field in one piece, thanks for your patience #herefordforyou."

Twitter users were clearly amoosed by the incident with one writing: "Pull the udder one."

Another wrote: "The traffic is mooooving [sic] a long nicely."

Thankfully, no cows or drivers were hurt in the process after Daisy's farmer managed to rescue her and take her back to her field.
