Traffic was queuing for ten miles as police closed the M53 in one direction at rush hour.
Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway of the the M53 at junction 4, Brimstage at around 4.45pm on Monday, November 1.
Once officers arrived at the scene they found a car had crashed into the central reservation.

The woman driving the car was rushed to hospital after the crash. She's not believed to have been seriously injured.
The crash has caused 10 miles of tailbacks from junction five at Brimstage back to Ellesmere Port.
Police have since left the scene and the carriageway is now open.
Traffic monitor INRIX said: "Traffic easing, earlier police incident on M53 Northbound from J5 A41 New Chester Road (Eastham) to J4 A5137 Brimstage Road (Bebington)."
