Highways England traffic police have tweeted after rushing to attend two cars on the M1.
One car was on the hard shoulder between Junction 26 and Junction 25 while another was caught on the traffic camera trying to assist.
Highways England East Midlands tweeted: "Our Traffic Officer are en-route to address this driver who is trying to jumpstart a vehicle that's broken down on the hard shoulder, by parking sideways in lane 1."
The initial tweet was then followed up by some more information.
The next tweet said: "Some background on this one....Location is J26/25, M1 and the driver had run out of fuel.
"7km past the exit for J26 (2 fuel stations within 2 miles or so) and come to a rest 3km past Trowell Services.
"Luckily, nobody was hurt."
