Traffic 'offal' after chicken guts spill

An entire truck load of chicken guts has spilled on a Queensland highway. (AAP)

A semi-trailer full of chicken guts has lost its load on a Queensland highway creating a slippery, stomach-churching mess.

A section of the Mount Lindesay Highway has been turned pink after the innards of countless chooks was strewn across the road surface on Monday afternoon.

The spill happened after the truck was involved in a collision at Jimboomba south of Brisbane, police said, leaving authorities with the mother of all clean up jobs.

Even the cabin of the truck was left draped in intestines.

Fire crews were called to attend to the situation, and used a front-end loader to scrape up the mess and dump it into another truck.

Police said the incident reduced traffic to a single lane, leading to some congestion.

"Obviously it's going to be pretty slippery," a spokesman told AAP.
