Traffic lights at Trongate off as Glasgow City Council warns drivers

A series of traffic lights are off in a key junction in the heart of Glasgow this evening.

Glasgow City Council have issued a warning after confirming lights aren't currently working at the junction of Trongate, King Street and Candleriggs at the Merchant City.

The council's Traffic Control and Management team (TRAFFCOM) say motorists should take care in the area, with the lights remaining off 'until further notice'.

A TRAFFCOM statement published shortly after 4.30pm this evening advised: "The traffic signals at the junction of Trongate / King Street / Candleriggs are dark and will remain off until further notice.

"Road users should approach this junction with care.

"Further bulletins will be issued as more information becomes available."
