Traffic light stopped car ploughing into house

A traffic light stopped a car crashing into a house on a busy Renfrewshire road.

The silver Renault spun after being hit by another car in Greenock Road, Inchinnan, before coming to rest just feet from the front door of a house.

Emergency crews raced to the scene around 2.30pm and both male drivers were treated by paramedics.

Debris was strewn across the road and a traffic light had been smashed.

A passerby, who asked not to be named, witnessed the aftermath of the accident.

He told the Paisley Daily Express: “I was just out walking the dog and turned the corner to see two cars in a bad way.

“One of the cars was up on a traffic light facing the wrong way and the other was also pretty damaged.

“The car was really close to the flat, it had smashed the fence and was in the garden.

“It looks like a car has pulled out of India Drive and hit a car coming along Greenock Road.

“The car in Greenock Road must have spun and ended up on the traffic light.”

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed officers attended the scene around 2.30pm on Thursday.
