Traffic into Glasgow city centre affected as car crash forces closure of Springburn Road

A crash has forced the temporary closure of a busy Glasgow road this morning to the north of the city.

The A803 Springburn Road is currently closed (southbound) at Fountainwell Road near to the St Rollox Business and Retail Park, with a police diversion in place.

Glasgow City Council's traffic management department (TRAFFCOM) issued an alert around 8:20am confirming news of the crash.

The incident is affecting traffic heading into Glasgow, with INRIX traffic data site reporting congestion to the Maryhill turn off.

They report: "A803 Springburn Road Southbound partially blocked, queueing traffic due to accident at St Rollox Business And Retail Park. Congestion to Maryhill Turn Off. Affecting traffic heading into Glasgow."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 7.50am on Thursday, 24 June, police were called to a report of a two car road crash on Springburn Road, Glasgow. Emergency services are in attendance and there are no details of injuries at this time."

UPDATE - The road has now reopened to traffic.
