Authorities are anticipating large crowds and potential road closures Monday morning and throughout the day as President Donald Trump makes his first visit to Chicago as commander-in-chief.

Trump will attend a fundraising event at Trump International Hotel and Tower, 401 N. Wabash Ave., after delivering a speech at the International Association of Chiefs of Police convention at McCormick Place.

Several activist groups, including Indivisible Chicago, plan to protest, gathering near Wacker Drive and Wabash Avenue at 11:30 a.m.

Safety barriers have been put up along the Chicago River, and Chicago police have security measures planned, according to a Sunday statement.

“Residents should expect traffic impacts, including rolling streets closures, and the potential for large crowds as a result,” the statement said.

In an email, CTA stated that bus reroutes will be implemented “as needed” Monday but did not provide any specific information.

According to the White House, Air Force One lands at O’Hare Airport on Monday morning. He will most likely helicopter to a landing zone at Soldier Field, not far from McCormick Place. Trump will deliver his remarks at 10:25 a.m. and depart at 11:20 a.m. for his Trump hotel fundraiser. He will then head back to the Soldier Field landing zone and O’Hare to return to Washington in the afternoon.
