Traffic delays after emergency services deal with blaze in derelict building on Clanbrassil Street, Dublin

Motorists are reporting delays after a derelict building went on fire on a busy Dublin city centre street on Tuesday evening.

Three units of Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene near the junction of Upper Clanbrassil Street and South Circular Road.

Several offices in the area were evacuated following the blaze which is now under control.

Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted: "We've knocked down the fire but traffic restrictions still in place. 3 fire engines & a turntable ladder are dealing with the fire.

"An ambulance crew from Donnybrook fire station evacuated nearby offices before the arrival of firefighters."

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area with delays reported following the incident.

AA Roadwatch said: "Clanbrassil St  is closed between the Kevin St jct and the canal as emergency services deal with a building fire. There are outbound delays on approach from Christchurch.

"It’s also slow approaching Harold’s Cross Bridge along the Grand Canal itself, as well as on Harold’s Cross Rd.

"Smoke is affecting visibility in the area so drive with care.”
