Traffic crawls near Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida as people pay tribute to BSP founder Kanshi Ram on his death anniversary

NOIDA: Traffic is crawling on Film City road near Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal as a number of people have gathered to pay tribute to BSP founder and Dalit ideologue Kanshi Ram on his death anniversary on Monday.

About 10,000 people from Noida, Ghaziabad and western UP are participating in the programme.

Lakhmi Singh, BSP’s coordinator in Gautam Budh Nagar, said that thousands of people from Noida, Greater Noida, Meerut, Agra, Saharanpur, etc. have come to Sthal to commemorate Kanshi Ram on his death anniversary. "We offered floral tributes to him and resolved to follow his footprints. The participants also discussed his struggles and his aim to take all communities forward," he said.

Singh said that people from five zones – Agra, Aligarh, Meerut, Saharanpur and Bareilly – are participating in the programme.

A large number of vehicles has increased traffic pressure at this stretch. The Film City flyover loop which connects Sector 18 and GIP Mall to Dalit Prerna Sthal, has become a chokepoint.

The traffic police have also regulated entry of roads connecting Film City road which is leading to jam at the entry points.

Mohit Jatav, a resident of Modi Nagar in Ghaziabad, said that he had come with over 100 people to participate in the programme. “A number of buses and cars did create traffic jam at the spot. The police should have made better traffic arrangements,” he said.

The traffic police and civil police personnel were deployed along the route. The police are not allowing parking of vehicles – buses, cars, bikes, etc. – on the roadside near the programme venue.

Anil Kumar Yadav, deputy commissioner of police (traffic) said that since thousands of people have come to the programme, there is slow traffic movement. “However, this traffic is moving and there is no jam. The Greater Noida-Noida bound traffic will be diverted to Sector 37 if the pressure increases. Similarly, the Noida-Greater Noida bound traffic will be diverted near Film City flyover,” he said.

The DCP said the parking facilities have been made at Film City multilevel parking and also at the Sthal’s gate number 1. In addition to this, some buses and cars have been parked on the left side at DND Flyway toll plaza.
