Dedicated and priority lanes for vehicles related to the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics opened on Monday in Tokyo and Chiba Prefecture.

The dedicated lanes cover about 2.4 kilometers around the Ariake district in Tokyo, where many Games' venues are concentrated, the National Stadium in Shinjuku Ward and Makuhari Messe in Chiba City.

The painting of white lettering indicating such routes got underway in the capital on Sunday.

The dedicated lanes are open to only Games-related vehicles. Ordinary vehicles must yield the right of way on priority lanes.
