Traffic chaos on N4 in Dublin with rush-hour motorists at a 'standstill' as gardai attend incident

Motorists are facing major disruption on Monday morning following an incident on one of Dublin's busiest routes.

Traffic is at a standstill on the N4 between Junction 4 and Junction 5 at the Dodsboro exit after a truck overturned.

Gardai and emergency services with heavy lifting equipment are at the scene following the accident at around 6.20am.

While no one was injured, the overturned truck is causing chaos on the road with all westbound lanes closed.

Two eastbound lanes were also closed but have since reopened, with traffic being diverted through Lucan village.

Dublin Bus is reporting "significant delays" as a result of the incident.

Gardai are warning road users that they should "expect long delays in both directions".

Posting an image of the vehicle on the road, they said: "Gardaí and Emergency services with heavy lifting equipment are currently at the scene of an overturned truck on the N4 Westbound at the Dodsboro exit.

"Three lanes Westbound and two lanes Eastbound are blocked. Motorists should expect long delays in both directions."

The clear up is expected to take a while, with motorists reporting heavy delays this morning.

One driver said: "The traffic from the N4 crash is insane I haven’t seen traffic like it before. Also the crash looks so bad I really hope everyone is okay."

A second wrote: "Almost an hour and no movement!"

A garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of a traffic incident on the N4/M4 Westbound between Junction 4a and Junction 5. The incident occurred at approximately 6.20am this morning, Monday 28th February 2022.
