Traffic chaos on M8 in Glasgow as emergency services race to eastbound smash

Emergency services have raced to a crash on a busy stretch of the M8 in Glasgow, sparking heavy traffic on the busy motorway.

The collision on the M8 eastbound, between Junction 24 and Junction 23, took place just after 4pm on Friday August 6.

The incident blocked lanes two and three of the motorway, but has since been cleared.

Traffic remains heavy in the area, and drivers are being urged to avoid the road and take an alternative route if possible.

It is not yet known if anyone has been injured in the crash.

Traffic Scotland tweeted about the incident to warn other motorists.

The tweet read: "#M8 RTC RTC eastbound J24 to J23 blocking lanes 2 & 3.

"Traffic heavy in the area. TRISS & police en route."

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
