Two crashes on either side of the same stretch of the M8 near Bathgate are causing major traffic chaos.
The first smash happened when a truck rear-ended a car close to Junction 3A on the westbound carriageway just before 2pm.
A separate crash then happened at almost exactly the same spot on the eastbound carriageway, causing delays in both directions.
Police attended the scene to clear debris and move the truck and part of the road remains closed.
There is no official update on the condition of any of the drivers, but eyewitnesses told the Record that the two female drivers involved in the accident on the eastbound carriageway had exited their vehicles prior to the arrival of emergency services.
