There are lengthy delays for commuters travelling into Glasgow today after a crash on the busy A77.
A serious crash occurred at Fenwick just after 6.20am this morning leading to major congestion and the closure of the route northbound.
Police are on the scene and diversions are in place.
Drivers are facing tailback for up to 30 minutes or more.
Traffic Scotland tweeted just after at 6am: "*NEW*06:21 #A77 #M77 northbound J8 Fenwick - the road is CLOSED from the Meicklewood Interchange due to serious RTC. Police on scene. #BeAware if travelling this way this morning. #Kilmarnock."
Traffic in the area is still heavy with queues back from the B7038 Glasgow Road at the Meiklewood Interchange, to Junction 8 on the M77 and congestion is reported back to the Bellfield Interchange.
The incident involved two horses and a van, reported Glasgow Live .
