
UPDATE: Both eastbound lanes on the New England Highway have re-opened, but traffic remains heavy in the area. Drivers are told to expect significant delays.
EARLIER: A crash involving four vehicles has caused significant delays on the New England Highway and John Renshaw Drive at Tarro.
Police and emergency services were called to the New England Highway near the Anderson Drive ramp around 11.37am after reports four vehicles had been involved in a crash near the overpass heading towards Newcastle.
Paramedics treated a 16 year-old boy for chest pains and a 42 year-old man for shoulder pain before they were taken to John Hunter Hopsital with reports of minor injuries.
The Transport Management Centre has advised drivers of significant delays as traffic banks back to John Renshaw Drive and is affected northbound traffic on the Pacific Motorway.
Emergency crews remained on the scene, working to clear the way, around 12.40pm. Drivers have been urged to allow extra time and exercise caution.
