Traffic chaos as M90 closed after three vehicle smash and emergency services race to scene

A busy Scots motorway has been blocked following reports of a multi-vehicle smash in Fife.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the northbound carriageway of the M90, near Dunfermline, shortly before 11am on Saturday.

Heavy traffic has already built up in the surrounding area with travellers being warned to expect around a 40 minute delay.

It is not currently known whether any one has been injured.

Two cars and HGV are understood to be involved.

Traffic Scotland tweeted: “M90 N/B J2-2A remains blocked due to an RTC. Traffic slowing from the Queensferry Crossing with around a 40 minute delay.

“Emergency services are at the scene.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: Officers were called around 10.45am to reports of a 3 vehicle crash on the M90 northbound, near Junction 2a.

"Officers are currently at the scene."
