Traffic brought to standstill on M4 following a crash near Sarn, Bridgend

Part of the M4 was brought to a standstill this afternoon after emergency services attended a crash.

The incident happened at around 4pm on Monday, May 10 and involved one vehicle on the M4 eastbnound, between junction 35 and 36.

Drivers reported there being very slow moving traffic across three lanes of the M4 near Sarn and Porthcawl towards Cardiff, while emergency service vehicles drove past.

Driving conditions were described as "awful" with rain and surface water causing the road to be slippery.

According to South Wales Police, nobody was injured. The road is now open with traffic slowly returning to normal.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Shortly before 4pm we were called to reports of a single vehicle collision on the M4 eastbound, between junction 35 and 36. There were no injuries and the road is now open."
