Traffic attendant attacked after issuing Audi with parking ticket on Musselburgh High Street

A traffic attendant was attacked after issuing an Audi with a parking ticket in Musselburgh.

The incident happened on the town's High Street at around 4.45pm on Monday (2 September), and police say they are following a positive line of enquiry.

The 59-year-old man was working in the area when he informed the male driver of an Audi that he could not park in a loading bay. The driver became verbally abusive and walked off, leaving his vehicle parked in the bay.

As the attendant started to issue the Audi with a fixed penalty ticket, the man arrived with two other men. All were verbally abusive to the victim, and the suspect then assaulted him.

Thankfully, the victim was uninjured, however police have launched an investigation and they want anyone with information to come forward.

They say they are following a positive line of enquiry, but wants anyone who can help to contact Musselburgh Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 2842 of 2 September. Alternatively get in touch with Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
