A TRADITIONAL pub on a Scottish harbourside has hit the market for a quarter of a million pounds.
The Old Moray, a wet-let pub, located in Macduff, Aberdeenshire, is up for sale with an asking price of £249,999.
Retaining a classic pub feel throughout, the property features a timber servery, pool table, games area as well as historical photographs and references to the town’s maritime past, giving the "pub an authentic character that resonates with its local clientele", according to the sales page.
Situated on the harbourside in Macduff on the Moray Firth, the area has a long-standing association with fishing and maritime industries which supports the growing levels of domestic tourism tied to the northeast coastline.
Macduff is around 45 miles north of Aberdeen, and 35 miles east of Elgin, and is separated from its neighbour Banff by a seven-arched road bridge over the River Deveron.
The towns harbour was constructed in the late 18th century and there has been a public house on The Old Moray site for more than 100 years.
Christie & Co, who are managing the sale, have marketed it stating: "With a warm, welcoming atmosphere that is firmly community-led, The Old Moray focuses on the sale of beers, spirits and other drinks, and serves a loyal customer base."
The property also includes a four-bedroom residence.
Owner Kenneth Hawkins commented: “After nearly 20 years at the helm of The Old Moray, and at 75 years of age, I feel it is time for a new Captain to steer the Pub into an exciting new future.”
Simon Watson, senior business agent – hospitality at Christie & Co, is managing the sale process, and said: “The Old Moray is a characterful, community-led pub in a highly desirable coastal trading position, offering an excellent opportunity for an incoming operator to take forward with strong local support and further growth potential”.
