Trader attacked outside his home

TRS leader, farmer and paddy trader Kunche Venkataramana Reddy, resident of Tadagama colony (Daryapur) in Navipet mandal headquarters, was attacked with an axe by an unknown miscreant just before his home early on Friday. He died after being admitted to the Government General Hospital here.

The 50-year-old trader belonged to Kamalapur village and was son of former sarpanch Venkat Reddy. He was separated from his wife some 10 years ago and he and his younger daughter were living in Navipet. He had sent his parents and daughter to their native village and was alone at home when he was attacked while he was returning after prayers at the local Markandeya Swami temple in connection with the Shivaratri festival.

On being informed trainee IPS officer Kiran Prabhakar and SI of Police Venkateswarlu rushed to the spot and made arrangements to shift him to the hospital. The exact reason for the crime was not immediately known. Sniffer dogs were pressed into service and clues team visited the spot. They recovered the axe used for the crime from the site.

Police registered a case and launched the investigation.
