TRADE: 49ers move back in trade with Buccaneers

The 49ers are on the move early in the 2020 NFL draft. They worked out a trade with the Buccaneers for the No. 13 overall pick, which San Francisco acquired from the Colts in the DeForest Buckner trade.

Here are the details via ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

49ers get: Nos. 14 and 117
Buccaneers get: Nos. 13 and 245

It looked like the 49ers might’ve fallen backwards into Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs, but the team elected to move back instead of shore up their offensive line and prepare for life after Joe Staley.

General manager John Lynch made it clear the 49ers were willing to move down the board with both of their first-round selections. Sliding back one spot gives San Francisco some added flexibility in the middle rounds after entering the draft without any picks in the second, third or fourth.
