Tracy Letts’ Pulitzer Prize finalist “The Minutes,” originally staged at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre in 2017, is headed to Broadway next February, it was announced Thursday.
Producers Steve Traxler and Jeffrey Richards also announced that the Broadway production will be helmed by director Anna D. Shapiro of the Steppenwolf production.
Letts and Shapiro teamed up for his Tony Award-winning “August: Osage County” first at Steppenwolf in 2007 and a year later on Broadway where the drama received five Tonys, including best play.
“The Minutes” features a cast of 11 in a dark comedy about the state of politics in America as it plays out amid a turbulent city council meeting of a mid-sized city. In Chicago, the cast featured a who’s who of Steppenwolf ensemble members including William Petersen, Ian Barford, Francis Guinan and Kevin Anderson, among others.
Casting for the Broadway production has not been announced.
