Tractor worth £85k stolen – but found by police within 24 hours

Perhaps the thief who stole this should next time try targeting something smaller, faster, and less conspicuous than a huge, bright green and yellow tractor.

The £85,000 John Deere model was snatched from Morley but was found a few miles away in Methley within 24 hours of its disappearance.

The tractor has since been returned to its owner after the vehicle was examined by forensic officers to trace the suspect or suspects.

West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit tweeted: "Stolen £85,000k (sic) tractor located within 24 hours. Thankfully reunited with its owner. Forensic examination under way to locate the suspect/s."

John Deere is a brand of the American Deere & Company which manufactures agricultural machinery which includes combine harvesters and field sprayers.

It is named after the company's founder and inventor John Deere (1804-1886).
