Tractor rams into temple gate; driver, helper killed in Kanpur

KANPUR: A driver and a helper were killed after a straw-laden tractor rammed into the gate of a temple in Umri village in Bhitargaon under the limits of Saadh police station area of Ghatampur on late Sunday night.

The police said that the incident took place after a straw laden tractor-trolley rammed into the gate of the temple built on the roadside after which the debris of the gate fell on the tractor-trolley driver of and its helper.

The villagers rushed to the spot and tried to rescue the driver Rambabu Kuril (38) and helper Mahesh alias Chotka (35), but by then both of them had succumbed to their wounds.

The police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the mortuary in Kanpur. Saadh police station in-charge Raj Kumar Singh said that both the bodies are being sent for postmortem. “The incident is being investigated,” Singh added. tnn
