Tracking the mock draft projections for the Browns for Rounds 2-3

After selecting Alabama offensive tackle Jedrick Wills in the first round, now the attention turns to Rounds 2 and 3 on Friday night. The mock draft projections from around the web have a clear theme, though several different players.

The consensus is the Browns will take a safety at No. 41 overall, the ninth pick in Friday night’s second round.

Draft Wire projects LSU safety Grant Delpit, who was a common projection as a first-round prospect during the early part of the college football season. Delpit was also the pick from Kyle Crabbs of The Draft Network.

A different safety, Minnesota’s Antoine Winfield Jr., is the selection from The Sporting News. In the third round, analyst Vinnie Iyer rolls with Winfield’s college teammate, WR Tyler Johnson, and UCLA CB Darnay Holmes.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein went safety as well, but his choice was Wills’ Alabama teammate, Xavier McKinney. His third-round projections are Boise State EDGE Curtis Weaver and UCF WR Gabriel Davis.

McKinney is also the second-round projection from Bleacher Report. He is the No. 2 available player on their big board.

At CBS, it’s Iowa defensive end A.J. Epenesa as the Browns projection at No. 41. “The Browns halt Epenesa’s fall and love his intimidating size, power, and versatility,” is the optimistic commentary.
