Track SpaceX and NASA rocket as it flies over UK for a second time

You may be able to see the SpaceX rocket carrying astronauts flying across the UK sky tonight.

At 8.22pm Nasa launched astronauts into space from US soil for the first time in nine years, with Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken on board SpaceX's Dragon capsule and Falcon 9 rocket.

Commenting on the launch, British astronaut Tim Peake said: "What a great launch and congratulations @SpaceX on making history.

"I loved watching the acceleration during the final minutes of launch - it's a crazy, crazy feeling being hurled up to 27000kmh!"

And Nasa Administrator Jim Bridenstine said: "For the first time in nine years, we have now launched American astronauts on American rockets from American soil.

"I'm so proud of the @NASA and @SpaceX team for making this moment possible."

When is the second viewing in UK of SpaceX rocket?

Fifteen minutes after the launch, the rocket passed the UK skies - however it was too light to see the spacecraft.

Major Peake said as the spacecraft launches, it may be visible in UK skies later.

He tweeted: "You can see the @Space-Station pass over the UK tonight, 22:10 BST.

"Look west, low on the horizon & it will cross to the south east, passing beneath the moon. If @SpaceX launches, it will follow about 5 mins later. The sky will be too light to see SpX on 1st pass after launch."
