Danny Rose's proposed exit from Tottenham to join Turkish side Trabzonspor looks to have fallen through on the eve of deadline day.
The England international has fallen out of favour in Jose Mourinho's Spurs side and was set to rejuvenate his career on the continent, with Rose reportedly offered a three-and-a-half-year deal in Turkey.
That would have seen Rose, who spent a period of last season on loan with Newcastle United, bring an end to his lengthy career in north London.
However, Trabzonspor now appear to have pulled the plug on a proposed deal after reconsidering the situation due to COVID protocols.
“The transfer is very difficult after this time," club president Ahmet Agaoglu said.
"It will cost [take] seven days. Let’s make the transfers we can do [right now]."
Rose would have to follow strict quarantine guidelines if he were to move abroad, with a seven-day window in Turkey for arrivals from the UK - which already saw official confirmation of Mesut Ozil's move from Arsenal to Fenerbache held up.
The full-back is Tottenham's longest-serving player but has been omitted from Mourinho's squad for both the Premier League and Europa League campaign this year.
His contract in north London is due to expire at the end of the season and it had previously been claimed Spurs would hold talks regarding a mutual termination, which could now be on the table again.
West Brom have also been attributed with an interest in the experienced defender but Rose appears to favour a move abroad.
