'Toys out the pram!' - Sabri Lamouchi's reaction to Championship introduction had Forest players laughing

Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi could not believe what he was watching the first time he sat down to enjoy a Championship game.

The Frenchman was far from a well-known figure when he first set foot in the City Ground to replace Martin O'Neill in July.

But the same could be said about his familiarity with the English Championship, having only taken charge in France and internationally in the past

And his first taste of the crazy division came surrounded by his Forest players who were left laughing at how bemused the 48-year-old was about the whole experience.

The game in question was Luton Town's 3-3 draw with Middlesbrough back in August, a hectic evening's entertainment that saw the lead change hands three times before the Hatters snatched a last-gasp equaliser through James Collins.

That was Lamouchi's introduction to the Championship and, thankfully, his side's standard of football has far eclipsed the two in action that evening - but the dramatic nature of the division has remained.

"On the first night of the season we showed Luton versus Middlesbrough live on Sky Sports and it was a crazy, crazy game," said Gary Weaver, as he told the story on Sky Sports EFL podcast.

"It was a brilliantly chaotic game on a Friday night and all of the Nottingham Forest players were in the hotel watching the game together.

"And the players kept looking over at Sabri Lamouchi because he was watching the game and he was laughing and he was shaking his head.

"All of the players just thought: 'Welcome to the Championship!'"

David Prutton added: "Those Forest players know when he isn't happy, don't they.

"He is so animated on the touchline. he throws his toys out of the pram. That is a wonderful sign of the passion he feels."
