Toys and food sought as The Trafford Centre hosts donation point to help ease cost of living crisis

There are just over two more weeks to donate at a Christmas gift and essential items donation point at The Trafford Centre - with toys and food as the last items being collected.

The Trafford Centre has been hosting the donation point to help ease the cost of living on residents of the borough since Monday, October 17, encouraging visitors to work together and support local individuals, families and communities who are struggling as rising inflation causes misery for millions.

Donations have been accepted at the customer services desk since October, and members of the public have been able to donate a variety of categorised items, including pyjamas, slippers, Christmas decorations, gift sets, make up and electronics.

The last day Trafford Centre are accepting donations is Sunday, December 18 to give the team at Trafford Centre, Trafford Council and Trafford Community Hubs a chance of sorting and distributing the donated gifts ahead of Christmas day.

A spokesperson for The Trafford Centre said as the donation point opened: "The Trafford Centre are proud to partner with Trafford Council and Trafford Community Hubs, introducing an important festive donation scheme to the centre this Christmas.

"With a core aim to help create a positive difference, to those who may need financial support, some gifting love or help in making their house feel like a home this winter with everything from winter warmers, Christmas presents, decorations and everyday essentials."

Gift sets for grown ups are currently being collected and From December 5, toys are to be collected. Christmas Treats such as chocolates, Christmas puddings, hot chocolate and crackers are also wanted, with the last donation being collected on December 18.

  • All donations can kindly be dropped off at the Customer Service Desk located on the ground floor of the Main Dome. The Trafford Centre can only accept new items and not second-hand goods.
